New info needed for A2 FAQ
While thumbing through the hundreds of kilobytes of Nate's FAQ,
I was impressed with the attention to detail. However, I caught
an error that's probably due to dated information. This is not
to knock the FAQ, but an endeavor to increase its accuracy.
Specifically, the section on memory for the GS, where the FAQ
says that you won't be able to find new GS memory boards that
use SIMMs. This is not true. Right now, there are only two
companies that actively manufacture memory cards for the GS and
one of them is Alltech. Their Sirius RAM card supports up to
8MB of memory using 1MB SIMM modules. It would be a shame if
new users are left with the impression that they can't reuse their
old Mac or PC SIMMs lying around to boost their GS' memory.
On the other hand, the Sequential board is boldly endorsed in
the FAQ, even though it is only 8MB DMA compatible with the
RAMfast while Alltech's is 8MB DMA capatible using the Apple HS
SCSI card as well (with the exception of the ORCA shell, which
for some reason confuses the hardware DMA trickery the card uses).
