IIe card for Mac

This may be more suited for the Mac newsgroup, but I'll try here first. 
I just picked up one of these cards used, but unfortunately no docs or
software.  There is a 36 pin connector that I believe hooks up to a
5 1/4" floppy drive.  Is there a Mac disk required to make this card
work?  Is there anything special about the drive that plugs into the
card?  I'd enjoy hearing about anyone's experience in using the
emulator.  Thanks in advance.
