Manually copying around parts of the system software blindly can
cause a *lot* of trouble. For the record, here's the full story on
this:
- Each version of ProDOS 16 and GS/OS have had an associated version
of ProDOS 8. That copy of ProDOS 8 should be placed in the file
'*/system/p8' (*=boot volume), where it'll be automatically run when
needed.
- Attempting to use the wrong version of ProDOS 8 will not work.
The version for System 6.0 is different than that for 6.0.1.
- The correct version of ProDOS 8 is installed by the GS/OS or ProDOS
16 setup program. Use it if you're not sure which version of the
system software you've got, or the like.
