See my article, HACKING PLATINUM: MAC TO APPLE II
Its in the Winter 1997 issue of II ALIVE. Its on transplanting Mac 800K
drive mechanisms into EITHER the platinum Apple 3.5 drive OR the Unidisk
3.5 drive casing. IT WORKS, and the front panel eject button WORKS and
the red LED WORKS.
Also, a great UDC card is the OKS MultiCache card. Runs two 3.5 drives
of any kind, plus two 5.25 Disk IIs, and loaded with RAM on the card for
Look-forward disk acceleration. I've got one and would not part with it
for 500 bucks! :-) I use two platinum 3.5" drives with it pn my
flagship IIE. Fully compatible with ZIP-8.
