RE:IIgs playing funny buggers

Do you have a joystick attached to the IIgs?  If so, disconnect that and see 
if that solves the problem.  I ran into problems similar to what you 
described, and it turned out to be a faulty button which thought it was 
pressed part of the time -- depending on the angle the stick.
