I don't disagree; I was looking at a practical workaround.

You're right! In addition to rejecting a null User-Agent string, the
site also rejects my version's default: Lynx/2.8.8dev.2 libwww-FM/2.14
SSL-MM/1.4.1. Alternatively, this seems to work:
lynx -useragent=Lynx http://www.Apple2Online.com/
