The basic set of manuals for programming the Apple IIGS is:
Apple IIGS Toolbox Reference (TBR), Volumes 1-3
Apple IIGS GS/OS Reference, Volume 1
Programmer's Reference for System 6.0.1
The last one is published by my company, the Byte Works. It's $50 plus
shipping. If you would like ordering details and a price list by e-mail,
let me know. I can also send a printed catalog; for that, I'll need a
snail-mail address.
The first four books were published by Addison-Wesley. They are long since
out of print. You can sometimes find them advertised from individuals, and
I even saw a post somewhere here or in comp.sys.apple2.programmer
advertising a new copy of TBR v. 2.
We're working on getting permission from Apple to reprint these volumes
and a couple of other classics. I got a copy of a letter to one of the
concerned parties about 2 weeks ago that indicates the process is almost
over! Before too long, we should be able to offer all of these volumes to
the Apple II programmaing community as APDA reprints.
