GS monitor RGB vertical convergence fix?

Okay, didn't see this in the FAQ-

borrowed a friend's monitor over break, thought I'd do him a favor
and tune the thing up. I adjusted the color balance/bright/cont/
focus (I've opened up the AppleColor before...), but I can't seem
to fix this one extremely annoying problem.

Assuming green is scanning correctly, it looks like blue and
red are each rotated about one scanline, in opposite directions.
What I mean is that horizontally, in the center of the screen
the three colors converge correctly to produce white, but on
either side, they are nearly 1 scanline apart vertically. It
looks as if you were in Adobe Photoshop, and rotated one
one color channel by one degree. yicky.

Anyone know what could be causing this, and/or how to fix it?

thanks,
alex
