I'm moving this thread and info. reply from binaries to csa2. Here's the
info. I've been able to obtain on Modemworks. Per an old post and public
archived on Liquify and Ground as follows in total:

Applesoft BASIC does not include any modem commands. However(!),
Morgan Davis has developed a software package which lets you add modem
control commands to BASIC. These commands include the ones you mention
and
many more. The package is named "Modem Works".

Basically, Modem Works is a collection of fast-executing modules.
You
begin a program by loading in the modules with the commands needed to
handle your particular application (like a BBS program).

To load the Modem Works modules and 'hook them up' with standard
BASIC, you need Morgan Davis's Object Module Manager. OMM also makes it
easier to create custom BASIC command modules (for telecommunications or
any other IIgs application).

According to a 1994 ad, Modem Works sells for $89.95. OMM sells for
$39.95. Each package comes with diskette and manual. The number listed
for Morgan Davis is 619-670-0563.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can only add to the above for update info. that the Tel. number is no
longer valid. His current email is: mdavis@king.cts.com

In an email I received from Morgan Davis, on 11/1/96 - concerning all of
his software for Apple II's and IIGS' he did relate that he had plans to
make his software available from his web site with the following
comment:

"It has been my intention to release the software, source code, and
documentation by putting it onto my web site. But it is not being
released to the public domain, and I'm not authorizing any other form
of distribution at this time. I'll be making an announcement to the
comp.sys.apple2 group when this information is available online."

That's all the information I have to offer concerning what I know about
Modemworks, it's status and availability - (any version).

Cheers & Happy Holidays!
