Automated Data Entry for 2e

Does anyone have ideas about getting alphanumeric info. into a 2e? I'm
trying to avoid typing long lists of such info that arrives daily.

Barcoding is not an option.

Would it be possible to use Scantron or some other type of optical reading
system (not a scanner since much of the info is hand written). 

Once into the database, is there any add on (like something from the
timeOut series) to print the data out onto a form, or to create a form in
which the data is found?

Any suggestions?
