No club, no vatican, just a bunch of guys who used to have IIgs's and now
do other stuff, and are someone less than enthused when someone joins and
says "CHECK OUT MY K00L NEW FTP SITE DUDEZ! I'VE GOT RASTAN!!". It's odd
that you'd feel like a pawn when you were probably just ignored by us.
OTOH, you'dd be surprised how fast we perk up when someone mentions
5-10k/s AppleTalk transfers to and from his GS to some unix box. *That's*
interesting stuff. Okay, so we're jaded.
: It's the same parasitic and egocentric behaviour which I experience in
: my university every day.
So quit school, get a job, cut your hair, and stop whining about how you
were treated on IRC. It's just a channel. You have have your own, like
#HappyHappyJoyJoyIIGS where everyone smiles and says please and thank you.
: I don't know why the IIgs community needs such people.
Me either. In the last couple years, most of us have ceased writing GS
code, and the flow of public domain software has continued unabated. Oh
wait! That's not quite right...
: Everyone can try to write a few lines of code and advance to a decent
: programmer if he really wants that. In fact, I prefer the guys who learn
; to program or to research and not only learn to talk!
Everyone can build a bridge, Mr. Rearden. It's those that can *share* it
with the community who are great! You've done nothing for us.
: I have offered my FTP site for the convenience of everyone, nothing more!
: If you don't like it, don't download anything from it. I have created the
: site mainly for the NICE people on csa2. When I have finished fighting
: against guys like you in my college, I may even write one or two programs,
: who knows? Come on, insult me if this makes your ego happy!
If you created it for nice people on csa2 (Hah), why did you tell us evil
#appleIIgs types about it?
: Sorry, I said 'my' FTP site again, but I guess it would not make much
: sense to say 'your' FTP site. I doubt that people which such an
: egoistic attitude would create one.
You're missing the point. You've only complained about how awfully you
were wronged. Seems kind of selfish to wallow in your own self-pity.
I used to operate a mirror of ftp.cco.caltech.edu at ftp.interactive.net
while I worked there. I also hosted ftp.gno.org, which during the most
active time in GNO development hosted not only the TCP/IP beta section but
a contributable repository for developing software.
Oh, selfish, egoistic me.
: Know that I am not the only only one who is offended by your rude behaviour.
: This includes not only countless A2 users, but also full-blown programmers
: like Mitchell Spector, Jawaid Bazyar or Jesse Blue. If you really want an
: elite club, stop advertising it in your www pages and shoot yourself to the
: moon. The Apple II community can do without people like you.
Speak for yourself, palooka.
I'm not sure Mitch would be all that comfortable with you calling him a
full blown programmer, and if I *had* offended him, I'm sure he'd let me
know.
Jawaid's another story, but I doubt that much development has come out of
HyperMall for your IIGS. Jawaid and the rest of #appleIIgs have been split
since way before your schwanz showed up, and frankly, this had nothing to
do with you being insulted.
Never met Jesse Blue.
: I hope Apple pays you well for the hostile behaviour to the good folks
: who still want to keep and use their IIgs? Thirty silver pieces don't go
: far in these days...
Man, you really are on crack. Do me a favor, don't ever buy a NeXT.
