All this crap seems to be the best way to drive another Apple II 
programmer into the arms of the opposition.  Even the biggest companies 
(MicroSoft?) routinely miss their deadlines.  Why give a bloke agro for 
simply being honest by not making any promises he knows he may not be 
able to keep?
