Problems with Apple2 Emulator

I recently got the Apple II emulator for the Mac, STM, but I can't seem to
get any of the disk images I've downloaded to work; the application file
doesn't even recognize the .dsk files and I can't load them into the Disk
II module. Has anyone gotten this program to work? If you can help, pleas
