That's how much any of the computers cost in '80, especially with
"all the toys" (disk drives, printers, etc.)

But while the prices of some of the other computers' main units
(i.e. the TI, C64, Atari 800, CoCo consoles) fell dramatically, prices
for printers and diskdrives stayed about the same, so to outfit one
of these systems to do serious work cost almost as much as an Apple or
IBM clone . . .
