Re: Unhappy with LemminGS price
Here's my 2 cents worth on all this about having to buy Convert 3200, in
order to be able to get Lemmings GS. I can certainly understand the
logic and reasoning behind such. First, JB, just buy the Convert 3200
program for $20 (I think that's the price) plus S & H, etc. and then you
can buy Lemmings GS from Joe and Brutal Deluxe.
It's the only way you can get it legally anyway. That's a total cost to
you of $23 - plus the S & H charges. Both software titles are worth
every penny of the cost.
I think everybody must realize that Joe wants to make money for his
efforts with both programs and Brutal Deluxe really isn't too concerned
with making any money from the Lemmings GS program at all. BD and Joe
should make money from the Convert 3200 program- it's a very good
graphics conversion program for the price.
I tried to buy it from Joe - when it was first discussed and offered for
sale last year, but he refused to sell it to me. Then Olivier Z (the
co-author of BD) sent it to me for free. So, what class do I fit in with
respect to being able to buy or obtain the Lemmings GS disks set game -
legally? None, that's what class I fit into. I didn't and couldn't buy
Convert 3200. I got it sent to me for free from the author. Thus, I'm
not a registered owner, so I can't get Lemmings GS legally.
Olivier Z. already posted on this newsgroup in one of our old and famous
flamewars - that I was no one and he wasn't going to allow me to have
the Lemming GS disk set game, when it's released. Now, I neither have
any usable need of it. Nor do I have the time or desire to play games on
the computer anyway. Non-the-less, it would be nice to have it - just to
have it to add to my IIGS games collection! With respect to the Lemmings
GS disk set game - if I can't obtain it legally, then I don't want it -
period!
At least you have the option of buying 3200 Convert and then ordering
the Lemmings GS disks set game - for the simple cost of $3 - S & H plus
disks expenses. IMO - that's certainly not to much of a price to have to
pay. After all, Lemmings on the Mac or PC platform would cost you more
than both software titles; Convert 3200 and would for the IIGS. And, if
you don't want or need the Convert 3200 program then resell it for
half-price to somebody in the marketplace or give it to some needy IIGS
user that can't afford to buy it but, could use it.
Cheers,
Tom
