That must have been about 12 hours ago, since about every other post
of mine here referrs people off to the comp.sys.apple2 Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ), that just happens to include the answers. Drop
by http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/faq/csa2.html and read up on things,
including downloading. I can email the FAQ off if people can't get on
the WWW.

Also, downloading files isn't exactly simple due to all the quirks
and problems you may encounter. However, I believe I've listed a fair
number of those and solutions.

>How can I get a program from an ftp site to run on my IIGS?

Questions 29-42 of the FAQ cover downloading, then there's a
separate section on troubleshooting some oddball system errors. That
section's a *little* big to cut & paste into this post at will, so
I'll let you read it for yourself.

Apple II and IBM PC disk formats are different at a hardware level,
and cannot be read on the 'wrong' system with (rare) addon hardware.
[The FAQ has lists of things that work, from [null] modem and where to
get A2 comm programs or lists of the hardware that does work.]
