Here is info that was e-mailed to me from Tiger on the product:
I think the product you are referring to is
the Tiger Learning Computer. The copy below is taken from the J.C.
Penney's catalog and has the basic info about the product. I don't
think it is totally accurate to say that this is an Apple IIe
"compatible". There is no floppy drive; all software is cartridge
based and there are no plans to produce a hard drive. We do, however,
feel that for an SRP of $149.99 the product can be a good first step
toward computer literacy for anyone.
"Based on Apple IIe technology, the TIGER LEARNING COMPUTER
comes ready to challenge your child with 9 software titles which
cover science, math, and English grammar activities. Word processing
software is also included. The Tiger Learning Computer connects to
your television just like a video game so there's no need to purchase
a computer monitor.
Includes: 9 software titles, (Scholastic Math Shop-Weights & Measures,
Math Shop-Decimals & Fractions;
MECC Invisible Bugs ,Sun and Seasons; MECC Grammar Gobble, Picture
Chompers; Stickybear Typing,
Stickybear Basketbounce; and AppleWorks Word Processor) RAMdisk for
storage, BASIC, AV cable,
AC adapter, 74 key keyboard, and mouse.
Expansion options include:
external modem and internet software for exploring the World Wide Web
(text only); printer; joystick; and many more educationally proven
software titles."
