The "Nazi" problem is so intricate that it's ridiculous to reduce it to the
above. It's a huge simplification that does not reflect what has happened.
Furthermore, it's very disappointing seeing references to the Nazi regime in a
_flame_. Do you really want to compare this silly totally boring thread with
the Third Reich?
> Isn't this what his actions suggest?
No. I do not agree with many of Nathan's views, but his not doing all this for
his own profit or for becoming some kind of a leader. He's just trying to stop
people from posting how supercool pirating is, and why everyone should ignore
the law. If you really want a parallel to the Nazi Regime, then I can only tell
you that the lack of people like Nathan have certainly been one reason why
Hitler has been successfull: people who oppose themselves to the mainstream
because they recognize that the current direction may bring some temporary
profit (Hitler *did* some good things for the Germans) but is dangerous and
hazardous in the long run. It's very simple to criticize those because you can
be sure the majority is behind you, but in the end you'll be very sorry for it.
One reason why the comparison fails is because an entire generation had already
grown up with beliefs in highly doubtful things (racism, for example). Is it
*their* fault? Maybe partially. It's the fault of those who allowed such an
education, and that's where we're at right now.
> Now why is my argument inappropriate? The motives of nathan's are clear.
Despite the last paragraph, I still refuse making any links to the Nazis.
Remember, people *died* and some who were fighting might even read this
newsgroup.
I'm sorry for this off-topic posting.
