Apple II Disk ][ drives are of the stupid variety: when they try and
boot off a disk, they try to boot _forever_. [Until one of three things
happens: (1) a bootable disk is inserted in the drive, (2) you hit
control-reset, or (3) you turn off the power.]

Later Apple IIs (mostly those with built-in 5.25" disk controllers)
had extra functionality to give up after some time. If you've got a
disk that boots on another computer but doesn't on yours, you've
probably got some kind of a hardware problem that'll need more
investigating.

As Jack Freiss has already mentioned, the comp.sys.apple2 Frequently
Asked Questions (no, this isn't answered in it, though) answers tons of
general questions about the Apple II, peripherals, resources, etc.
