Technical AST Vision Plus Question

  If Alltech was trying to get their hands on AST Vision pluses a few 
years back so they could refurbish them and upgrade them to Visionary 
cards, theoretically it should be possible to perform surgery on your on 
card for the same result, (barring specially designed chips that can't be 
bought anywhere else).  
  Any techies out there with the know how or plans on how this could be 
accomplished?
