The Sound Manager does a lot of work at interrupt time. If you have
Oliver Dreer's MPEG Realtime Audio Player, for example, you can listed
to MPEG audio files while you're playing Marathon (and Marathon does
not give up *any* CPU time to other applications unless you use an
undocumented hotkey).
Yamaha's MIDIPlug SoftSynthesizer is the same. Very, very heavy
swapping can screw it up on occasion, but since most other sound
programs do not have this problem, I think there is an oversight/bug in
the current MIDIPlug beta.
