DOS 3.3, arguably the nicest floppy-disk operating system around, will run
quite nicely on a //c.

My advice?  If you are running off of floppies, use DOS 3.3.  That way,
you get only 9k worth of operating system, all of your disks can boot, and
you can even make use of the Language Card (my favorite uses are as living
places for GPLE and for Merlin-8/Big Mac).

As soon as you get a hard drive or 800k drive, ProDOS finally looks
attractive, because of the directory tree structure and a couple of other
features.  All the things that make ProDOS downright nasty to work with on
a floppy-based system go away when you get a large-capacity disk (well,
except for the arbitrary filename rules and a couple of other
annoyances...I never got a FILE BUSY error under DOS 3.3, and the guys who
wrote ProDOS forgot about MON CIO and INIT...).

Most important...if you have a DOS 3.3 disk, it will boot on the //c.
