Re: Ramworks III (was: IIe sound problem)

J.B. Cole asked....
> Also, what is the maximum cpacity of a Ramworks III card?

The standard configurations you buy the card with were
64k, 256k, 512k and 1 meg. 1 meg is the maximum you
could fit onto the board itself, but there is the possibility
of adding a daughterboard expansion card to fit more memory on.

Now I've heard of people having the daughterboard card, though
it is *very* rare... moreso even than the SuperDrive controller
it would seem. The largest configuration I've actually *heard*
anyone having on the daughterboard is 2meg, although I have an
old AE ad that offers daughterboards in such combinations as 512k
as well as an improbable 16 meg variety. I have no idea if anyone
actually *bought* one of those 16 meg cards, though I'd love to
get my hands on one though... anyone have one for sale? As an aside,
I expect that they were actually 15 meg addons to make the Ramworks
come to an even TOTAL of 16 meg, despite what the ad said... I
don't believe the processor can recognize more than 16 megs of memory.
(actually, most of that would have to be ramdisk space anyway...
processor aside, there are also limitations from the Apple ROM well
under 16 megs... at least this is true for the GS... ][ I'm not sure
about.... I kind of though the limit for the 8 bit setup was only
1 meg...)

By the way, I might want to point out that there were other options for
the Ramwoks III *besides* the memory daughterboard... there was also a
65c816 16 bit card add on, and I expect that that was what was able to
give the ][ access to more than 1 meg. Only certain software (Lotus, etc)
could utilize this extra memory tho... There was also the RGB monitor
card.

This being said... does anyone have any of the daughterboard options
they'd be willing to sell? Let me know...
