There are two or three cures for a keyboard that has letters that don't
work. First, with one finger pound on the key a bit harder than seems
reasonable about 20 to 30 times. Often, that action will clean dirt off
the contacts and the key will be restored. Second, the key can be
removed from the keyboard and cleaned or replaced. Third, the keyboard
can be replaced. I can help with the last two options, but you will
have to do the pounding yourself. Still another option is to try to
squirt some TV tuner cleaner into the key alongside the stem and work it
up and down for a while. This is difficult to do now as the freon-based
cleaners are no longer sold. I have heard that the non-freon products
now available will harm some plastics so I cannot recommend using one of
them.
