No, the tape code is still there in the enhanced IIe.  It was removed in
the IIc and IIgs, and parts were replaced by code which supports double
lo-res graphics mode (80x48, 16 colours).

[I'm not sure about DLR support in the IIc, but it is definitely there
in the IIgs.]
