Eric,

You have posted to the wrong group. You really want
comp.sys.mac. Comp.sys.Apple2 is for the Apple ][
community. Which, although related to the same fruit the
Macs are made of - is of a hardier stock. :-)

But to answer your question: The reason the Mac is
switching back to LocalTalk is because your EtherNet
software can not see the EtherNet card you have installed
in the machine. Your best bet is to swtich off the
machine, disconnect the power cord, and reseat the EtherNet
card. Check all connections, and then power back up the
Macintosh. You should also have another computer there
with you which is already working well on the EtherNet (If
possible) so you can try booting up off of it to make sure
the line hasn't gone dead for some reason (those little
plastic telephone jacks sometimes can become damaged with a
simple jerk on the line [and I am not talking about you
being a jerk either - for the record]). We've had to
rebuild the EtherNet lines here at work a couple of times
due to our having moved the Power Unit from one place in
the room to another. In the removing and relaying of cable
some of the EtherNet lines were pulled one way or another
and this resulted in our having to replace the jacks on the
end of the lines.

If you don't, it will probably bounce. What man does not
