There was a slot-extending cable made by (I think) California
Research, or whoever it was that made the Paddle-Adapple.

I've used the cassette port for its original purpose, but I don't like
it :)

I've sorta got one of those sound recording programs; I'm planning on
"releasing" it, but an overwhelming majority of it is just copied
right outta Gary Little's _Inside the Apple //e_. How angry would he
be if I posted it? Anyway, I've got my //e's cassette ports connected
to the microphone and speaker ports on the neighboring PC. This way,
I can hear (or redirect the internal speaker sound, if need be) the
sound coming out the cassette port of the //e. Redirecting only
*some* of the sound can make a stereo-ish effect :)
I've seen a program that uses the cassette port (or maybe it was the
joystick port) to connect the //e to a parallel (or was it serial?)
port. [Lots of firm info in this paragraph, huh?]
Redirecting //e sound to the cassette port can give you a 1/8"
headphone jack...
