Actually, the only thing Apple II-specific with scanners such as
the Quickie and LightningScan are the interface card. Both these use
the Omron 1700 scan head and can be used on a PC or Mac.
You would need a different interface of course, but the actual
hand-scanner is a generic device. When used on an Apple IIgs you
get either 320/640x200 with 4-bit greyscale, though not sure what
it's capabilities are on a different machine (8-bit greyscale?).
I'm remember Vitesse offering an "IBM upgrade" for their Quickie
scanner, consisting of an ISA interface card and software. If
you own a LightningScan, it should work equally as well. This
should allow you to share the scanner between a GS and PC.
