I have an "AppleColor Composite Monitor IIe", platinum version, model
number A2M6021. This must be one of the last ones made, cause the daye
of manufacture says July, 1990. There was also a beige version to match
the original //e color. No card is needed, just a cable from the jack on
the back of the //e to the monitor.

I have a 1701 - seems nearly identical from your description - and I don't
know why this wouldn't work just fine. I don't have the time to try it,
but it should be OK to use the composite jack on the front of the 1702.
