Assuming the DeskWriter 660C is similar to the DeskWriter 500 series (as
opposed to the DeskJet) then you will not have much luck getting it to
work with AppleWorks.

In general, the HP DeskWriter series is intended for use on a Mac. They
can be used with a LocalTalk network connection or with a high-speed
serial connection (57600 bps). Lower serial speeds are not supported.

In general, the HP DeskJet series is intended for a use on a PC. They
have a parallel port, and earlier models also have a serial port, which
supports rates up to 19200 bps.

The IIgs serial firmware doesn't support 57600 bps directly, though
there are add-on programs that set the rate to 57600 bps (this might not
work with AppleWorks).

A DeskJet 660C would work fine on the IIgs, except that it probably
doesn't have a serial port.
