I've narrowed down the ongoing issue with Netatalk to it not working
with a wired connection.
What I mean:
With the server connected to the network via wireless the IIgs sees
the server, the server sees the IIgs.

10-00-E0-30-03-3A.. the IIgs
login.. is the GS/OS client login
Hindenbook G4 XL.. is a Powerbook with 10.5.8 via wireless
DellXPS.. is the test 'server', currently Ubuntu 10.04/netatalk
2.0.5-2
The topography is as such:

Substitute #5 for the Dell XPS and add in the transient Powerbook G4
Booting a LiveCD on the Dell, connect to the wireless LAN, simply
adding netatalk with synaptic, enabling atalkd in the configuration
and restarting the service, allows the IIgs to login and exchange
files (using the modified AppleTalk CDev). NO changes to atalkd.conf
have been done. No -seed, -phase 2, etc. Nothing.
But if I boot the LiveCD and insert the CAT5 cable, and do all the
stuff the same, only the Mac's can see the test 'server'. If I yank
the CAT5 and restart netatalk, to use the wireless connection,
everything works.
I can switch back and forth and the result follows. Wired, no.
Wireless, yes.
