Re: Graphic Writer III

I'll throw in my support for Graphic Writer III, even though I haven't yet
upgraded to v2.0...though I have this nifty yellow postcard on my desk...

The first layout program I used was PageMaker 4.0 on a Macincrash, and
for my purposes (I'm not publishing books, just occasional documents), GW3
is every bit as useful...and I can run it on my "stock" GS. My biggest
complaints are that the windows take too long to re-draw, and the tools
are too big, meaning I can't get enough of the document on the screen.
But if I could get my TWGS working reliably, that would solve the window
re-draw problem, which would also take care of the screen-too-small problem.

I'll echo what someone else said...the editor in GW3 leaves a lot to be
desired, but then so does the editor in PageMaker. But if I start with
AppleWriter, I can import the text into GW3 and it is gorgeous. I get
really nice output from my ImageWriter (I have Perfect Image), and if I
take the machine to work and print on a LaserWriter, it looks like I used
one of those so-called high-power machines.

Y'know, I'm a long-time Apple ][ user, but when I bought the IIgs, it was
a stop-gap until I finally had to break down and buy a Macincrash. But
that was a couple of years ago. I just avoided buying a PowerBook by
getting a palmtop instead, and I can't for the life of me figure out what
I could possibly need a Mac for.

Okay, so it would be nice to have a machine for running "Coaster!" and
"Theme Park," but that's what the machines at work are for, right?! 8-)
