.nib files


 
What are these?  I just downloaded an image file from a site and had the
following.
 
filename.nib.gz
 
I used gzip to get rid of the .gz, now it's filename.nib 
 
I then used dsk2file to try to create a disk file but it doesn't boot, nor
   
can it be cataloged from DOS (or ProDOS).
 
Anyone know what there are and how to convert them?
