Joe, I just tried an experiment on my //c, equipped with the 40-80 col-
umn switch. Pushing it down to force 40-column, appropriate for using a
TV as ones monitor, had no effect on the display. ProTERM 3.1 forced an
80-column display.
Agreed PT3.1 is a terrific program and my hands-down personal favorite of
all my software, I'm not sure it would work at all from television-for-a-
monitor. On the other hand, I picked up a working Monitor II from the local
GoodWill for $10. 80-column green-screen. A small solder job to correct a
bad solder joint will have it on its way to my stepson and his family
pretty quick. They can be had quite cheaply and fairly frequently at low
prices.
