Dead Battery Dates !

My gs's battery has been dead for about 6 months;
The cool thing about the gs is that it still works even with a dead
battery. Some of my (I) ve (B)een (M)isled users tell me that a lot of
there software won't boot without a good battery.
Well on to the point;
I have noticed that most of the time I turn the gs on and Just take a
look at the clock it reads OCT 31 1996.
Anyone else notice there clocks date if you have a dead battery.
