Re: How to connect a Apple IIgs to a 3.5 superdrive

Wolfram asked how he could install a superdrive (a internal one) to the IIgs's
external drive connector.

I assume from your question that you have a 1.44m disk drive (superdrive) that
was pulled from a Macintosh. If that is so, all you need to do is find someone
who has an empty Apple 3.5 external drive enclosure with it shielded cable.

The Apple 800k and 1.44m drives use the same internal flat ribbon and
external shielded cabling and are designed to be interchangable inside the
external enclosure.

This does _not_ mean that the 1.44m will read/write 1.44m when connected to
the disk port of a IIGS. It _will_ read/write 800k very nicely. For it to
read/write 1.44m you need the SuperDrive disk controller card -- a rare animal.

If you need more details on the swap, please let us know.
