Re: CD of all Files on Asimov
Your posting comparing getting a free replacement copy of a piece
of software being aking to stealing a Saturn when one's car
breaks down is ***really stupid***.
When I buy a piece of software I am buying a license to that software.
I am not expecting a free physical disk...however, I fail to see
what's wrong with keeping a backup of the binary image(s) that
comprises the software. Neither does the law, as that's perfectly
legal.
As far as pulling an image down WITHOUT owning the software,
you're absolutely right that it is piracy...but get a life... all of
the archive sites say that if anybody owning rights to the games
objects to their software being freely distributed then they'll
happily remove it. I'm an oldtime Atari software author and I like
having my software memories freely distributed. It doesn't bother me a
bit. I don't think of all the money I'm losing out on in lost sales
because I recognize that as silly.
