It is my understanding that there were two versions of the DuoDisk...
one that could be daisy-chained and the other that had to use its own
interface card. I don't know the precise details, but the way it sounds
to me is that you have a non-daisy-chainable DuoDisk (see the Apple
3.5" Drive manual which specifies that only DuoDisks with a certain
serial no. and up can be daisychained...)
