Re: A new OS for the IIGS

This _virtual concept_ of an operating system is completely not suited
for the Apple IIgs. Developing code to make it run the IIgs is more
insane than emulating an entire Apple II+ in a GS/OS application.

Inherent problems:
1) The IIgs has no memory protection
2) The IIgs is not a 32-bit computer, therefore the kernel would need to
   be rewritten for 16-bit support
3) Having a 2.8 Mhz computer trying to emulate a 150 Mhz UNIX would make
the OS and any applications dog-slow.
4) The IIgs has no support for multiple processors
5) The IIgs has no C++ compiler
The list can go on and on.

Besides, GNO is available and very capable of handling the UNIX-like
functions that actually can work on a IIgs. GNO is only around $80.
The man hours for a _competent operating system programmer_ to
spend time on such a project would be so high that any such person
would rather spend the $80 for GNO and have the _same_ capabilities
(not to mention that GNO would run several times faster!).
