I think it should work.  It should plug right into your printer/modem
port, and you may need to settle for compatible drivers made for the
550C or something.  I would guess the info that applies to MS-DOA (My
playname for MS-DOS) also applies to your IIgs.  According to my
HPDJ660C printer manual:
