IIgs and Mac ADB ports

Does anyone know the difference between the ADB ports on the IIgs and the
Mac?  My IIgs keyboard gave up the ghost and I connected the Apple
extended keyboard from my Mac to it and it worked OK.  Since IIgs
keyboards are so hard to come by, I ordered a Mac keyboard (MacALLY) from
Mac Connection to replace the IIgs keyboard.  Only problem is that it
doesn't work!  It works OK on the Mac, so I have switched the two
keyboards, but I would like to know why this occurred for future
reference. (I am often called upon for advice about the IIgs). TIA for any
