I had a similar thing happen to my ROM 01 GS a couple years ago.
As it turns out I had toasted the logic board.  I would check
the power supply anyway to make sure you are getting the correct 
voltages out of it.  I don't know how your ROM 0 is setup, but
my GS motherboard dosen't have a lot of socketed stuff, so if
a component is blown its probably easier to swap the logic board.

I know there exists a ROM 0 --> ROM 01 upgrade, but I am not sure
of the cost, or if it swaps the board or just the ROMs.  It
might be something to look into however.  If you do require
a logic board swap you might also consider getting a ROM 03.
Those come with 1meg on the motherboard, so you would at
least have more RAM than your current configuration.
