IIGS Keyboard Problems

I hope this is a good place to post this....

I am experiencing problems with my GS' keyboard, namely, it is
missing keystrokes, or misreading keystrokes.  If I press the
key a number of times, sooner or later it will be read correctly.
(Sometimes I press the "u" key, and a "5" appears.  Sometime I press 
the "t" key, nothing happens.)

I do not see this problem occuring with only one or two keys, it
seems to be indiscriminate.  I have checked the ADB cable connection
at each end, (at the keyboard and at the back plane of the CPU box).
I have taken the keyboard case apart and tried to clean the dust
and crumbs out of it, but this has not proven successful.

Anyone have any suggestions?  Anyone have experience with similar
problems?  Any response appreciated!
