Yep, this is a bug in Shellplay. There's a solution to this
problem: Load the MOD file in Beatbox and save it again. Shellplay
will then be able to load the MOD file.

No. The "problem" you describe is a _feature_ of the song, which
is achieved using effects. NoiseTracker doesn't support most
effects at all, therefore the difference in playback compared to
Shellplay. Btw, because of this fact NoiseTracker isn't suitable
for playing back any (ProTracker) MOD files!

We have had no problems with Twilight II, the GS screensaver of
choice, at all. So maybe the source of the problem is not
Deskplay, but Phantasm. Phantasm has some severe bugs (which I
forgot) that can cause your system to crash - I'd use Twilight II
if I were you!
