Robb, don't give up! I print from proterm3.1 on my IIGS everyday to
an LaserWriter NT via appletalk. PT3.1 is set to use appletalk for the
printer (Rom1 GS, slot7=appletalk, slot1='your card') PT3.1 is set
for appletalk and slot 7 in the printer setup. No special init string
is needed, but I use '^[E' to force 12cpi printing. You might try to
use '^IL E' or '^[D^@^@' to force linefeeds, but that is not necessary
for me (I'm not sure the ^I firmware command is supported and the EscD
command is probably not supported by the imw emulator. By the way,
I don't know how you would enter the EscD init, dec values 27 68 128 0
Thus the last two are ctrl@ with and then without the hi-bit set!)

Anyway, back on track. You say you get no response, then say you get
text all overprinted on one line. Which is it?

You MUST use the imagewriter emulator. This must be downloaded each
time the printer is powered up. We never turn off our networked Laser-
Writer, so the emulator is ususally loaded. PT3.1 is an ProDOS program
and needs to print to an imagewriter, it doesn't use GSOS print tools.

Occassionly I end up in a situation when over-printing does occur. The
only way I know to force the emualator to be reloaded is to cycle power
on the LaserWriter and then reload the emulator. But by default,
the imagewriter emulator and PT3.1 work fine together. Keep trying!
