3.5Mhz, I think. And yes, it did have a number of graphics chips,
which allowed it to run at a decent speed. [Pretty much all game
consoles except for the tiny handhelds have had chips for graphics
acceleration. That's one of the main reasons why a 2-4MB (2MB code
ram, more dedicated to sound/video) SEGA Saturn of Sony Playstation
running at 2x28Mhz or 1x33Mhz can pull off games that Pentium 166s
and nice video boards can't.]
