     It is kind of surprising that you are even able to get to the DMM
flippers screen on a IIe (enhanced or not). 

     Since you are, the most likely reason for a flipper problem is speed.
If you are running some kind of accelerator, try turning it OFF or
switching speed to 1MHz.
