ProDOS is updated so that the dates will change correctly, because when
a certain year is reached the date reverts back to 1985 or something

There is more to this than the date problem.
Prodos8 version 1.9 for the first time introduced a good program selector
so that yo dont have to type in the annoying pathnames.
Also, Prodos8 no longer requires a .SYSTEM file suffix to run an application.
The various version also have slight variances to be compatible with the
varions GS/OS versions which means that only one specific Prodos8 version
runs with the corresponding GS/OS version.
( I found out the hard way when I "updated" the Prodos8 version in some older
GS/OS version which caused GS/OS to crash).
