UPDATE: Sick Apple ][e.... (still sick)

Well, I thank-you all for your suggestions. Unfortunately, none of them
worked... 8-(

I have removed all the cards and turned it on. I still get those
strange white bands across the screen with colored blinking lights
sometimes.

I have tried testing the kernel by holding down the apple key and also
by hitting Ctrl-apple-reset (or whatever it was). Nothing

I have removed many of chips (carefully) and found that two different
kinds exist in the computer. Some of them had nice clean shiny pins.
The other had this icky white residue on them. Thinking this might be
interfering with proper contact between the chip and the socket, I
carefully removed them and *scraped* off the stuff, and gently reseated
the chips. Result: Nothing, same as before.

I'm beginning to think this computer is *very* *very* sick. Poor
thing. I was hoping to get it up and running as possibly a fun thing
for my daughter.........oh well.

My only thought now, as per suggestions I've received from y'all is to
find someone else with a ][e, and try swapping chips.

	Any other suggestions?

Again, I appreciate all the help.

Cheers,

Randy
