First of all, I'd like to apologize as I'm kinda rusty on the particulars.
I disagree with the straight thru cable route, even though it is the
preferred cable in the ProTERM 3.X manuals, as it doesn't always work with
every modem, at least at first.
If the modem is set initially with DCD set incorrectly, signals won't be
able to be transmitted to the modem with the straight thru cable. And
since you can't change the modems NVRAM settings without it being able to
receive commands, you are screwed.
I recommend the following cable:
SSC end Modem end
(Male DB-25) (Male DB-25)
1-------------------------------------1 Chassis GND
2-------------------------------------2 TXD
3-------------------------------------3 RXD
4-------------------------------------4 RTS
6-------------------------------------8 DCD
7-------------------------------------7 Signal GND
20-----------------------------------20 DTR
5-------------------------------------5 CTS
| Yes, Pins 5 & 8 are jumpered on
8-- the SSC end of the cable.
Let's take this to csa2.comm.
